As well as its glorious climate, trendy shopping districts and varied landscapes to explore, Florida is home to some of the world’s greatest water parks. From dolphin parks to thrills and spills at Walt Disney World Resort, there truly is something for every adventure-seeker in the beautiful Sunshine State.

Here at Orlando Villa Holidays, we want you to explore each and every corner of this glorious state, enjoying the things you love the most. So, if you’re a water baby or simply looking for an adventure, head over to our top five water parks in Florida, and splash your way around this packed water park haven.

  1. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Lake Buena Vista

Spend your day rushing down the speedy rides at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, with as many as nine exhilarating slides to embark on; providing hours of entertainment, enjoyment and excitement. This famous Disney water park is known worldwide for its superb range of rides and slides, as well as its tropical setting, with many “shipwrecked” items and “abandoned” surfboards found dotted around the park, adding to the character of this one-of-a-kind splash park.

Put your feet up and relax at Castaway Creek - the soothing lazy river which runs across the whole of Typhoon Lagoon, or head out for a solo adventure down the 400-foot Crush 'n' Gusher tube slides. Then, head to the surf pool, which generates enormous six-foot waves every 90 seconds. There really is something for every age and experience level here, offering a whole land of excitement just waiting to be explored.

  1. LEGOLAND Florida Water Park, Winter Park

What could be better than entering the world where LEGO comes alive? A thrilling, themed water park perhaps? That’s exactly what’s on offer at LEGOLAND Florida Water Park, and there are rides for the whole family to enjoy.

For adrenaline seekers, climb up the steps and rush down one of three (or all three) unique slides, with an impressive 60-foot drop, thrashing you into the water pool below. Kids particularly love racing against each other on these exciting slides, meeting at the bottom to discuss the adrenaline-filled adventure they just embarked on together.

As well as electrifying water rides, this park also offers other exciting attractions to enjoy. Head to the new and innovative Creative Cove with the kids, and race your very own LEGO watercraft Build-A-Boat down the mini stream. Or, splish and splash in the impressive LEGO wave pool, tailored to all age groups - big or small.

  1. Aquatica, Orlando

Zoom down the enthralling waterslides, lay back and relax while floating along the lazy river and so much more at the incredible Aquatica waterpark in Orlando.

Take yourself out of your comfort zone on Ihu’s Breakaway Falls, a ride you can’t experience elsewhere. Here, avid water babies step into one of the many clear pods and once closed, randomly begin dropping down a vertical drop, providing extreme stomach-dropping thrills for everyone. Then, head to Dolphin Plunge: a transparent underwater water slide, where you can watch pods of dolphins swimming around you as you soar to the bottom.

Treat yourself not only to exciting water rides and slides but comfort in between, at Aquatica. Reserve a private cabana, which combines privacy with luxury and offers a remote space to unwind with the family (in between racing down the many splash rides here). Enjoy free Wi-Fi, a welcome basket, bottled water and even a mini-fridge, as well as other added extras.

  1. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, Orlando

Opening on April Fool’s Day in 1995, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is a quirky, wintry water park, featuring blankets of ‘snow’ amongst its exhilarating rides - open all year round (even when the warm temperatures reduce).

Experience anything from the Chairlift - a real-life ski lift carrying visitors over to Mount Gushmore, or soothe in the Cross Country Creek lazy river. The Downhill Double Dipper is a true tourist favourite, where families race against each other on slides with a 50-feet downhill plummet, and even reach ski-challenge finish flags at the bottom.

Alternatively, take time to relax in Melt-Away Bay - a calming wave pool resembling a tropical beach, with added Caribbean music to make you feel like you’re really by the sands. From the avid thrill-seeker to those looking to relax, there truly is something for everyone at this park.

  1. Universal's Volcano Bay, Orlando

Splash around at Universal’s Volcano Bay - the Florida water park of your dreams, featuring a volcano at the heart of the park and combining relaxing water activities with wildly-thrilling slides, rides and unforgettable adventures.

The focal point of this water park - the Krakatau volcano, stands 200-feet tall, being the largest peak in Florida. Plus, this famous water park is made up of four different, wondrous lands: The Volcano, Wave Village, River Village and Rainforest Village; providing plenty of variety.

Jump aboard the Krakatau Aqua Coaster at The Volcano, where visitors can ride on four-person canoes, sliding upwards through misty twists and turns, and finishing at a cascading waterfall. Alternatively, little ones can take a leisurely ride on the Kopiko Wai Winding River at River Village, or make waves at The Reef - the pool next door to the key rides here, shooting out other visitors from its adjacent slides.
